Bachelor's Degrees

  • What can I do with my major?: UW-River Falls offers more than 70 areas of study for undergraduate students. You'll have plenty of options to fulfill your purpose and passion. 

Definitions

  • Certificate: a document that certifies that a student has completed a series of courses in a specific area of study.
  • Certification: a course of study that allows students to meet the education requirements for teaching licensure.
  • Degree completion: a way for learners to apply previous academic experience and work experience toward the completion of a bachelor degree in a specific area of study.
  • Major: a subject or field of study chosen by a student to represent his or her principal interest and upon which a large share of his or her efforts are concentrated.
  • Minor: a subject or a course of study pursued by a student, especially a candidate for a degree, that is subordinate or supplementary to a major or principal subject or course.

Programs:

The UW-River Falls Department of Biology offers a Biomedical and Health Science Major in which students earn a degree in biology while preparing for licensure and certifications in various health professions. The Exercise and Sport Science major also offers options for occupational and physical therapy.

The Department of Biology has also developed several Affiliation Agreements with colleges that provide academic credits to students who transfer from UWRF into their programs. In most cases, students study for three years at UW-River Falls, transfer to an affiliated school, and receive a BS from UWRF after one year of study at the affiliated school. Students later earn licensure or certification in a health profession from the affiliated school.
