Academic Year Positions
Community Assistant (CA)
Each building pair has an CA, who is an undergraduate student staff member responsible for building community, offering programming and assisting students. CAs are very familiar with a wide variety of campus resources and are a great resource for students.

- Must have completed one year as a resident assistant at UWRF and meet the requirements listed below.

Resident Assistant (RA)
Each floor or wing has an RA, who is an undergraduate student staff member responsible for building community, offering programming and assisting students. RAs are very familiar with a wide variety of campus resources and are a great resource for students.
Spring 2026 RA Application Process
To Apply:
- Review the 2025-2026 RA position description.
- Submit an application.
- The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30.
- Candidates will be contacted by a Residence Life staff member to set up an interview on a rolling basis between by Dec. 13.
- Interviews will be held in person with an area coordinator between Dec. 1-13.
- Offer letters will be sent to candidates by Dec. 16.
- Acceptances are due by Dec. 19.
2026-2027 RA Application Process
- Review the 2026-2027 RA position description.
- Submit an application.
- Applications open Dec. 1, 2025, and close at noon on Feb. 16, 2026.
- Interviews will be held in person with an area coordinator between March 2-6, 2026.
- Offer letters will be sent to candidates by March 14, 2026.
- Acceptances are due by noon on March 24, 2026.
Mail Center Assistant (MCA)
MCAs are residential student staff members who sort, log and distribute mail and packages for students residing on campus. MCAs welcome students to campus during early arrival and work to help answer any questions students may have.
The Hathorn Mail Center is the central location for all incoming mail and packages for students living in the residence halls at UWRF. Residents can pick up packages from the Hathorn Mail Center daily and retrieve envelope sized mail from their residence hall mailbox. Our friendly mail center assistants will gladly help you retrieve any packages or answer questions you have about residence hall mail services.

Communication and Engagement Intern
This position will be responsible for the Residence Life image, graphic and marketing efforts, as well as assisting in developing a plan for and implementing the management of various marketing and social media. All interns will also have responsibilities supporting student engagement, student organizations and general office management. This position requires many evening and weekend hours.
Eligibility:
- A UWRF student in good standing (not on residence hall or other non-academic probation).
- Minimum GPA of a 2.0.
- Ability to work the hours available.

Hall Hub Assistant (HHA)
HHAs are residential student staff members who sit at the front desks of each residence halls to provide assistance to residents who need to rent equipment, need help contacting a staff member to assist with a lockout and to assist with general questions. HHAs are also there to provide a welcoming atmosphere to the community they are assigned.
HHAs can expect to work within the residence hall they are assigned from 4-7 p.m. each night (or as they are scheduled).

- A UWRF student in good standing (not on residence hall or other non-academic probation).
- Minimum GPA of a 2.0.

Student Custodians
Student custodians are student employees working in the residence halls on campus to assist permanent staff in providing basic custodial duties during the academic year.
Residence Life student custodians are student employees working in the residence halls on campus during the academic year. They assist professional custodians in providing basic custodial duties. This position may require early and mid-morning hours during the academic year.
- Hours: Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (various 2-3 hour shifts available)
- Pay: $12/hour, not to exceed 25 hours/week

Summer Positions
Summer Resident Assistant (SRA)
The summer resident assistant (SRA) position is a live-in, seasonal student staff member in Residence Life. SRAs are responsible for assisting with various Residence Life summer programs including student housing, guest services, some housing-related orientation needs, mail procedures and administrative projects. SRAs assist by welcoming and assisting guests, helping with check-ins and check-outs, preparing guest rooms, ensuring safety and security in all residence halls with guests and other hall operation responsibilities.
Position Appointment: Tentatively May 15-Aug. 14, 2026. Employment expectations begin the date a staff member accepts the position offered. Based off of the needs of the department, there may be opportunities for work through Aug. 28.
Hours: Between 25-40 each week
Benefits includes:
Housing: Residence Life will provide an air-conditioned single room in an assigned residence hall at no cost.
Compensation: New Residence Life student staff are paid $11/hour and experienced Residence Life student staff are paid $12/hour for 25 hours each week. Experienced student staff have completed one summer or two academic semesters of employment for Residence Life.
Meals: SRA receives some meals during the summer months at no cost when on-campus dining is available.

Summer Conference Assistant (SCA)
The summer conference assistant (SCA) position is a live-in, seasonal student staff member in Residence Life. SCAs are responsible for assisting in the implementation of various Residence Life summer programs including guest and conference housing services, some housing-related orientation needs, administrative projects and supporting custodial work. SCAs assist with summer camps and conferences by welcoming and assisting guests, helping with check-ins and check-outs, cleaning and preparing guest rooms, ensuring safety and security in all residence halls with guests and other hall operation responsibilities.
Position Appointment: Tentatively May 15-Aug. 14, 2026. Employment expectations begin the date a staff member accepts the position offered. Based off of the needs of the department, there may be opportunities for work through Aug. 28.
Hours: Between 25-30 hours each week (some weeks may be slower than others).

Summer Office Assistant
The summer office assistant (SOA) position is a live-in, seasonal student staff member in Residence Life. SOAs are responsible for administrative work and completing errands for staff members in Residence Life. As a member of the Residence Life staff, SOAs are expected to work with residents, guests and others to create an open, inclusive and supportive residential community and to perform their functions within the scope of the Residence Life mission, commitment to customer service and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Frequent lifting of 25 pounds or more and some lifting of 5-10 pounds over shoulder height is also required.
Position Appointment: Tentatively May 15-Aug. 28, 2026. Employment expectations begin the date a staff member accepts the position offered.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.-noon

Summer Student Custodians
Residence Life summer student custodians are student employees working in the residence halls on campus during the summer. They assist professional custodians in turning over rooms after summer camps and preparing other residence halls for the upcoming academic year.
Position Appointment: Tentatively May 15-Aug. 21, 2026. Employment expectations begin the date a staff member accepts the position offered. Based off of the needs of the department, there may be opportunities for work through Aug. 28.
Hours: 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (not flexible)
Benefits include:
Housing: Residence Life will provide an air-conditioned single room in an assigned residence hall at no cost.
Compensation: $12 per hour, up to 40 hours per week.
Meals: Some meals may be provided at no cost, when the dining center is open and available.
