When packages are logged at the Hathorn Mail Center, students who live on campus receive an email notification. On-campus residents must pick up their own packages with their UWRF ID or photo ID when the Hathorn Mail Center is open.
If the tracking information associated with the package indicates the package has been delivered but no email notification has been sent by the Hathorn Mail Center, the package has not yet been processed. Staff log each package received into a database. averaging 100-300 packages per day.
Please wait until a confirmation email has been received to pick up your item.
No, residents must pick up their own mail. Residents may request that their mail be held at the Hathorn Mail Center for an additional two weeks by emailing hathornmailcenter@uwrf.edu.
The Hathorn Mail Center only processes mail for students who live in the residence halls on campus.
When mail is delivered to the Hathorn Mail Center for a student who no longer lives on campus, staff complete the following procedure:
- Look for a forwarding mail address for the recipient. UWRF keeps forwarding mail addresses for six months after a student departs UWRF. Students may update this address through eSIS. Please see the FAQ below.
- If a forwarding mail address is available, staff print a new address label (NOT a new shipping label) and affix it to the package.
- The package is returned to the original carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) to follow their forwarding or return to sender procedures.
Packages that are returned to the carrier are not guaranteed to be forwarded on to a new location, even within River Falls.
Only USPS mail is eligible to be forwarded.
For six months after a student moves out of their residence hall room, only first class mail will be forwarded to the mailing address provided in eSIS. If this address is not correct or is not where they wish to have their mail sent, it is the student’s responsibility to change their mailing address(es) in eSIS.
Prior to leaving the residence hall for summer break, residents should update their mailing addresses in eSIS and with companies, family members and friends to ensure they get their mail.
After the six month time period, first class mail will be returned to sender using USPS procedures.
No, the Hathorn Mail Center does not send any outgoing packages. Students are able to send a package via UPS using the UPS Drop Box located in the University Center. The River Falls United States Post Office is located a few blocks from campus at 208 N. 2nd St.
Stamps are also available for purchase at the Falcon Shop located in the University Center.
Residents should use their hall address for all mail and packages.

Please contact the Hathorn Mail Center staff at 715-425-0704 or hathornmailcenter@uwrf.edu if you believe your package was delivered and is now missing.
USPS mail delivered to the Hathorn Mail Center that cannot be identified or has an incomplete mailing address will be returned to sender after two weeks. Students who believe their package may have been delivered, but have not been notified via UWRF email, may check in with Hathorn Mail Center staff for assistance prior to the package being returned to sender. The student will need to provide tracking information for staff review.
If a package requires a signature at the time of delivery when the Hathorn Mail Center is closed, it may be delivered to the Residence Life office in Hathorn Hall. If the Residence Life office receives a package for a student, an email will be sent to the student’s UWRF email instructing them to pick up the package at the Residence Life office.
