First Gen at UWRF

It takes a lot of courage and determination to try new things, to be first! This includes being among the first in your family to attend and graduate from college. We know it can be intimidating for even the bravest first-gen students, but know that you are not the only one here.

40% of UWRF students are First Gen!

And we here at UWRF want to acknowledge it. Be proud of your accomplishments!

At UWRF, First Generation status is determined based upon your parent(s)/guardian(s). If neither of your parent(s)/guardian(s) received a four-year bachelor's degree or higher, you classify as First Gen. You still count as First Gen if one/both of your parent(s)/guardian(s) received some college education or an associate's degree.

If they are not your guardian, their educational background does not affect whether or not you classify as a First Generation student.
