Elections
Student government elections are more than just casting a ballot—they're your chance to make a real impact on campus. The students you elect will advocate for your needs, help allocate funding to student organizations, help shape campus policies and work to improve the student experience for everyone.
Every vote helps build a stronger, more representative student voice. Whether you're passionate about campus events, student resources, academic success or creating positive change, your vote is a powerful way to influence the future of your university.
SGA elections occur at the start of fall semester and end of spring semester each year. Students elected in the fall term will serve for the remainder of the academic year in which they are elected while those elected in the spring term will begin at the start of the next academic year. Elected senators can expect 2-4 hours dedicated to SGA each week depending on their chose committee and initiatives. For more information, please email sga@uwrf.edu.
Student Senate Mission Statement
We, the Student Government Association of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, strive to advocate for the student body by representing their needs at a university, state and national level.
Requirements for a Senator
- 2.5 term and cumulative GPA.
- Be in good disciplinary standing with UW-River Falls.
- Enrolled degree-seeking student with at least six academic credits at the undergraduate level or three credits at the graduate level at UWRF, not including the times of winter or summer break.
- Attend all SGA meetings.
- Serve on one SGA standing committee.
- Abide by the SGA Code of Conduct.
Requirements for an Executive Board Member
- 2.75 term and cumulative GPA .
- Be in good disciplinary standing at UWRF.
- Enrolled degree-seeking student with at least six academic credits at the undergraduate level or three credits at the graduate level at UW-River Falls, not including the times of winter or summer break.
- Attend all Senate and Executive Board meetings.
- Serve on one SGA standing committee.
- Abide by the SGA Code of Conduct.
Get Involved: Petitions
Students who would like to run for SGA and appear on the official ballot must complete the petition form that was sent to their UWRF email by the deadline indicated.
How to Vote
- Check your UWRF email for a message from the SGA President.
- Follow the link to the email to the online ballot.
- Login to the form using your W#.
- Vote!

- Aug. 29, 9 a.m.: Petitions Open
- Sept. 9, 4:30 p.m.: Petitions Closed
- Sept. 11, 9 a.m.: Election Ballot Opens
- Sept. 16, 4:30 p.m.: Election ballot Closed
- Sept. 20, noon: Candidates Notified of Outcome
- Sept. 22, 7 p.m.: Elected Senators Sworn In
- Sept. 23, noon: All Students Notified
Fall 2026 Election Narratives
