Student Senate
The Student Government Association (SGA) is an official governing body at UWRF. We're committed to representing the voices of the student body at the university. We include a variety of committees and subcommittees and partner with other shared governance units at both the university and state level.
Every Falcon opinion matters so we would like to hear them! If you'd like to make a comment or inquiry to the SGA, please email sga.vicepresident@uwrf.edu or visit our office in the Involvement Center. Visit FalconsConnect to view our upcoming events, find minutes and agendas and more!

Committees
The Academic and Student Affairs Committee supports student success and advocates for academic policy change. Members of the committee address student concerns and lead initiatives that educate students about academic affairs. Along with discussing student inquiries, members of the council gather feedback from the student body. The council uses suggestions and students' experiences to guide the Student Senate's policy recommendations to other shared governance organizations.

The Finance Committee holds significant power on campus through their oversight of student segregated fees. The committee reviews the budget proposals from campus entities such as Textbook Services, Residence Life and Counseling Services, and forwards their recommendations to the chancellor. This gives members of the committee the unique opportunity to advocate for the expenditure of students’ segregated fees. The Finance Committee also allocates money to Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs).

These members are tasked with settling all disputes arising within SGA in accordance with not only the SGA Bylaws, but also all UWRF and Universities of Wisconsin policies. This committee has direct oversight of the Executive Branch and Election Commission and annually reviews all governing documents.

2025 Election Narratives
As part of the election process, candidates are given the opportunity to submit a narrative for their peers to learn more about their interest in positions and why they feel they are the best choice. Submissions are below.
Together, we have the power to transform UWRF. As your President, my top priority will be ensuring that student voices are at the forefront of every conversation regarding the student experience. From parking and dining to research and academics, students deserve the comprehensive, well-rounded experience they expect. Despite serious budget challenges threatening to undermine our university's bright future, VP candidate Dodge Sampair and I remain committed to working closely with campus leaders to reach common sense solutions.
As Vice President of the student body, I look forward to applying an ultra-focused approach to the issues and continuing challenges facing the student body working on SGA this past year has allowed me to build a robust working relationship with admin and faculty. This relationship will be utilized to identify and effectively communicate the actual state of campus and your experience on it. My presidential running mate Maddie Nelson and I have been in consistent communication and have identified various causes we look to champion on the students’ behalf including but not limited to protecting programs, prioritizing in person learning, following the student dollar, and ensuring it is spent on benefits for the students and community we look to create.
I believe I would be an excellent candidate for student government because of my strong leadership experience, academic dedication, and deep understanding of local governance. As an Ag Business major, I consistently excel in my coursework and am committed to maintaining high academic standards. I am highly involved with Alpha Gamma Rho, serving on the Membership Accountability Committee as well as multiple other committees, where I actively contribute to the growth and success of the organization. Throughout high school, I served as an officer in multiple student organizations, honing my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Growing up in a family where my father is the mayor of Howard Lake, MN, I gained valuable insights into local government and the importance of civic engagement. Additionally, my active involvement in various committees and organizations has given me a broad understanding of students' needs and desires, allowing me to represent my peers effectively. This combination of leadership experience, academic success, and exposure to government makes me uniquely qualified to represent my peers and make a positive impact on our campus community.

My name is Sierra, and I am a second-year student, currently finishing my first year serving on SGA, and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Through this position, I have had the opportunity to engage with various areas of campus and hear a wide range of student thoughts and ideas. I believe actively listening to and representing the perspectives of my peers is the best way to improve our campus.
I am running for the At-Large Senator position because I am passionate about continuing to be a voice for students. Because of SGA I now appreciate how important it is to channel student input and use it to guide decisions on campus issues. I have learned a lot in my first year, and I am eager to bring that knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to next year.
I have served as the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging senator of the 86th session of SGA. This experience has granted me the knowledge and insight to best serve my peers, student organizations- particularly within DIB, and the greater student body. Even through the hard times that were faced, my determination in being an advocate for every student remains steadfast. Being able to serve on SGA is a great honor that I take very seriously, and I plan to continue my primary goal of assisting students in any way I can.
If elected as the DIB senator, I will listen to the students in our marginalized communities who will lose their voices at a time when the DIB director, Princess Kent, is being removed from her position. I will reach out and hear from them every month and bring their thoughts or concerns to the Dean of Students to make sure that all falcons feel like they are welcomed, respected, and accepted on campus. I will consistently check-in with the administration to track the progress of the hiring process for Princess's replacement. My background places me in multiple underrepresented communities. As an army veteran, an older non-traditional student, and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I believe I am well suited to be the senator of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
I am a part of multiple student organizations on campus that represent different populations of students such as GSA, SFO, NSSHLA, Taylor Swift Club, etc. I feel like this gives me the opportunity to represent a variety of students in SGA and advocate for their needs.
I enjoyed serving as an At-Large senator this past year and would love to continue in the role. I love working towards making a difference in my community and I feel as an At-large senator I can help make a difference on campus. Thank You
I want to join the SGA because I want somewhere I can voice my concerns. I am a student who actively uses the counseling office and the disability resource center, both of which I find crucial to student wellbeing. I have found that not everyone has the courage to put themselves in a standing to fight for their mental health or disabilities, some may feel discouraged to do so. I want to be that fighter, someone who will listen, and advocate for our student body’s health. My main goal if I were to be a candidate would be promoting those offices more, as not everyone knows about it, or how to get started. Having those conversations with people could help someone take that step and help us understand how to make our services more accessible to everyone.
Hello, my fellow students, I am happy to be a candidate to represent the diverse people of this university. I promise to be a listening ear and help anyway you can. I will help standup for your disability needs, your voice will be heard I promise you. I am currently using the DRC for well needed accommodations so I am someone who you can trust to get your needs met. I will be the voice for the voiceless, I promise for all my fellow students your needs will be met.
Hello! I am a first-generation college student in my first year at UWRF. I have enjoyed my time on campus and want to give back to the school and other students through a position in SGA. I hope to advocate for students through a position and make the most during my time here at UWRF.
Hi! My name is Nicholas Jacobs and I'm currently an at-large senator on Student Government. I'm a major in political science and also aiming towards a potential double major with business administration.

Hello. My name is Erika Richtsmeier, and I am majoring in Social Work. I am currently running for the DRC position. Currently, I am involved with the Student Social Work Association (SSWA), a community service and volunteer organization run by social work students, as well as Falcon FETCH, a program that helps train future assistance dogs. When I am not actively participating in SSWA or Falcon FETCH, you can find me at the CrossFit gym in Hudson or working at ACR Homes.
After I graduate with my degree in Social Work, I hope to work in policy, advocating for marginalized communities. One of my biggest passions is raising awareness about the challenges these communities face, and I want to bring that passion to my work with SGA. By running for the DRC position, my goal is to increase support for students with disabilities by actively listening to their needs, identifying areas for improvement, and helping develop solutions that enable their success both inside and outside the classroom.
Hi, I'm Natalie Schutz, a junior neuroscience student running for the position of CAS senator. I currently serve as vice president for the campus ministry Oaks and try to involve myself on campus whenever opportunities arise. I play instruments, love biology, and have a deep, passionate understanding of both the arts and sciences as well as what they mean to others in this college. This past year I have enjoyed representing students ranging over a variety of different majors on either end of the CAS spectrum. Whether you're majoring in physics, stage and screen arts, or just taking classes around this college, I will strive to uphold a role of listening to your fellow Falcons’ concerns.
Through hard times on this campus, I believe it especially important that senators communicate relevant student input to administrators and UWRF positions involved in making decisions over the students. This is why I'm encouraged to fight for the improvement and maintenance of our college to hopefully make a difference in student experience for the better. I enjoy receiving suggestions and ensuring that our voices are heard, which is precisely what I plan to do if appointed back into this role. I would search for feedback on issues pertaining to anyone here, including input from undergraduate, graduate, transfer, commuter, and non-traditional students within my college, for a broad look at how best to implement ideas. Above all, I'd like to advocate for communication in the classroom, staff accountability, betterment of departments, and making sure courses align with student goals while working with the rest of senate to implement strategies for improving campus overall. Again, I very much look forward to representing you again if voted in. Thank you.
As a standing member of Student Government, I have worked hard to provide engagement from those that I represent and a better environment of the student body. I am in the US Marine Corps and a firefighter at the River Falls Fire Department. Therefore, I have committed my youth to service and plan to commit my future to service. Serving my community is what serving on student government means to me and why you should vote for me.
