Internships: Your Next Best Step

Internships are an excellent way to explore potential careers and gain hands-on experience. You can even earn academic credit while gaining that valuable outside-the-classroom experience!

So, what's an internship?

An internship is a structured educational experience that incorporates productive work experience as a part of college student's curriculum. A partnership between the student, the employer and UWRF, internship experiences provide Falcons with opportunities to improve work skills, explore career choices, develop professional competencies and experience classroom learning being applied to real work situations. Internships taken for academic credit are work experiences designed conducted and evaluated within an academic context. Ongoing communication, feedback and evaluation between students, their work supervisors and faculty ensure that both academic and professional goals are met.

Are there benefits?

Yes! As an intern, you'll learn more about the particular field and gain invaluable real world work experience. For employers, the benefit comes from having an intelligent and and enthusiastic employee who can make a meaningful contribution to their organization. Hosting internships is also a valuable avenue to explore and recruit college-level talent. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), 66.4% of interns were converted into professional hires in 2021!
