Homecoming 2023

Mark your calendars for UWRF Homecoming! Connect with fellow alums, bring your family to the parade, enjoy a great time on campus and help cheer our football team on as the Falcons battle UW-Platteville. Explore below for a full list of events and activities during Homecoming 2023.

Week-long events

Food and Personal Products Drive: Donate non-perishable food items and hygiene products throughout the week in the University Center, Falcon Center or Rodli Hall or bring them an athletic event. All food and hygiene products will be donated to Freddy's Food Pantry.

Be the Match Donation: Looking to become a bone marrow donor? Do a simple cheek swab and join the bone marrow registry. You could save a life! Cheek swabbing will take place at each athletic event.


Monday, Sept. 25

When: Monday, Sept. 25, 5:30 p.m
Where: University Center, Pete's Creek Patio
What: Come enjoy a Homecoming tradition with a bowl of Professor Jake's Bean Soup and kick off Homecoming with a home-cooked meal. This event is free and open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend. Email studentinvolvement@uwrf.edu with questions.



Tuesday, Sept. 26

When: Tuesday, Sept. 26, 5:30 p.m.
Where: University Center, Falcon's Nest
What: Represent your state with the tug-o-war battle of a lifetime! Wisconsinites vs. Minnesotans take to the rope to see which state will win the title. Cheer on your fellow Falcons and kick off Homecoming week. Free and open to all.



Wednesday, Sept. 27

When: Wednesday, Sept. 27, 7-9 p.m.
Where: University Center, Falcon's Nest
What: Join us in the Falcon's Nest and design your free Homecoming t-shirt. This event is free and open to all students, first-come, first-served.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.
Where: Falcon Center, Page Arena
What: Come cheer on the Falcons as they face UW-Stout on the volleyball court!



Thursday, Sept. 28

When: Thursday, Sept. 28, 3:30 p.m. (Boarding time), 4-6:30 p.m. (Boat cruise)
Where: St. Croix Boat and Packet Cruise, 525 South Main St., Stillwater, Minn.
Cost: $43/person
What: Join us for the annual St. Croix Boat Cruise to celebrate UWRF Homecoming! Join us in Stillwater for a campus update, social and food. The menu includes hamburger and chicken, potato salad, baked beans, fresh fruit and all the trimmings. Cash bar available.

Friday, Sept. 29

When: Friday, Sept. 29, 4 p.m.
Where: Falcon Center entrance
What: The annual Campus Recreation Bag Toss Tournament is free and open to all students, faculty and staff. Grab a partner and arrive by 3:45 p.m. to get your team registered. Each team is guaranteed two games and the winning team will receive an intramural champions t-shirt.

When: Friday, Sept. 29, 5 p.m.
Where: Nutty Squirrel, 110 S Main St., River Falls

Saturday, Sept. 30

Where: University Center, Involvement Center
What: Come and enjoy a "build-a-bear" style event where you'll get a custom stuffed homecoming moose! Limit one per person. First-come, first-served. Email studentinvolvement@uwrf.edu with questions.

Where: University Center
What: Grab a quick bit at Einstein Bros.! They offer fresh baked goods, made-to-order bagel sandwiches, crisp salads and gourmet coffee.

Where: University Center, Falcon Shop
What: The Falcon Shop is opening early for Homecoming! Stop in and get all your school spirit merchandise! Email 0375mgr@fottett.com with questions.

Where: Ostness Park, N. 2nd St and E. Elm St., River Falls
What: Stop by and enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee! Take this opportunity to socialize and network with fellow UWRF alumni and friends and then stick around to enjoy the Homecoming parade!

Where: David Smith Stadium
What: Don't go to the game hungry! Grab food and snacks from Wingman Matt and Taqueria Los Paisanos ahead of the big game.

Where: Downtown River Falls
What: Join us on 2nd St. for this longstanding Homecoming tradition! Register your student or alumni organization for the parade here. Email studentinvolvement@uwrf.edu with questions.

Where: Homecoming parade route
What: It’s been 35 years! Come cheer on the 1987-88 National Champion Hockey Team at the Homecoming parade! There are several social gatherings throughout the day. Contact Coach Rick Kozuback at rkozuback@coliseums.com.

When: Following the Homecoming Parade
Where: Southeast corner of the Falcon Center Parking Lot. Look for the Marching Falcons Parents' tailgate - we'll be located next to them.
What: Join us for a tailgate celebration! Don White will be grilling great food and lunch is provided. Cheer on the Marching Falcons as they add music and spirit to the tailgate atmosphere. Contact Julie Stucky in University Advancement at 715-425-4647 with questions.

What: Come cheer on the Falcon tennis team as they take to the court against UW-Oshkosh!

What: Cheer on the Falcon football team as they face the Pioneers of UW-Platteville in our annual Homecoming game! Concessions will be available in Smith Stadium.

What: Come cheer on the UWRF women's soccer team as they face off against UW-Platteville.

Sunday, Oct. 1

When: Sunday, Oct. 1, 2 p.m.
Where: Abbott Concert Hall 
What: All UWRF Choir alumni are invited to sing with us for our traditional Homecoming Concert. Please arrive at noon for rehearsal.

  • Noon- UWRF Choral community rehearses together
  • 1 p.m.- Reception
  • 2 p.m.- Homecoming Concert

Tickets will be sold at the door. $2 for students, $5 for seniors and $8 for adults.
