Counseling Services

The mission of Counseling Services is to provide professional mental health counseling and consultation services to the campus community. College can be a unique transition and students may face a wide range of emotions and experiences. Be it for stress, anxiety or a host of other concerns, as a Falcon, you’ll have access to on-campus services, referrals to off-campus professionals and special programming all designed to help provide the best care for you.

If this is an emergency, you should call 911.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide professional mental health counseling and consultation services for our campus community that:

  • Incorporates a brief therapeutic model with an emphasis on developmental counseling directed at helping currently enrolled students succeed in the university environment.
  • Creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors.
  • Provides leadership and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives.

Our Scope

Counseling Services does not provide long-term intensive counseling and psychotherapy. It is beyond our scope of practice to provide ongoing counseling and psychotherapy for students who may be diagnosed with a variety of serious, long-term psychiatric conditions and/or individuals who appear to be a recurring high risk of harm to themselves or the UWRF community. When more specialized, intensive and/or longer-term services are needed, we can assist in making referrals to off-campus professionals.
