As a student, your segregated fees provide access to on-campus professional mental health and counseling services, clinical health services contracted through M Health Fairview Clinic-River Falls and Pierce County Reproductive Health in River Falls and holistic education and preventative initiatives and programming. Mark is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Minnesota and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Wisconsin. He is the Training Coordinator for our UWRF graduate level internships. He is experienced in individual and group counseling and specializes in stress, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Mark incorporates identity development, positive relationship building and balanced living to support students in reaching their personal and academic goals while at school.

Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. She has experience and is trained to work with trauma issues, chemical dependency, family of origin, depression and anxiety. Jennifer believes in looking at the whole person, mind/body/spirit to help identify each person's true nature. Jennifer is a member of the Veteran Issues Group on campus and is credentialed in anger management.

Jessie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota. She has experience in providing both individual and group counseling with a diverse population. Jessie believes in meeting individuals where they are at, often using a person-centered and strength-based approach to support students in achieving personal goals. Her focus is eclectic, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and improving self-care habits.

Kaelyn White

Licensed Graduate Social Worker

Kaelyn is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker in Minnesota. She uses a variety of treatment modalities including psychodynamic and skills-based approaches. Her background is in general mental health with specialized training in eating concerns. She has experience leading cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy groups and frequently draws upon these techniques in individual sessions. As a former athlete, Kaelyn acknowledges the competing pressures colligate athletes juggle and understands the importance of a healthy mind. No matter a student’s background, she prioritizes a client centered approach in which students are encouraged to bring their unique identities to the room.

Annemarie is a Licensed Counselor In-Training. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UW-Green Bay and her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Viterbo University. She has experience working on college campuses and with student athletes. She works from a person-centered, solutions-focused, motivation and cognitive behavioral approach.

Keven Syverson

Assistant Director of Health Promotion; Ph.D.

Keven provides campus-wide prevention-focused programming on issues such as alcohol, tobacco, physical activity, sexual health, etc. He also speaks to classes, residence hall groups and student groups and organizations on health-related topics and serves on several campus and community health related committees and oversees certain prevention grants.

Michelle provides healthcare navigation assistance, health information, counseling outreach and advocacy for students at the M Health Fairview Clinic-River Falls and education and information on campus. Sonja provides administrative office support to Counseling and Student Health Services, assisting counselors and student health staff in directing students to a variety of resources to help them be their best at UWRF. She enjoys working in an office where she can take part in the common goal of student success.


The mission of Student Health Services is "to enhance students' health by collaboratively providing basic health services, access to information and resources, advocacy for campus health policies and prevention focused programming so that students can successfully pursue their academic, personal and professional endeavors."

Student Health and Counseling Services goals are to:

  • Provide access to clinical health and mental health services.
  • Monitor the health and mental health of students, the campus and the community.
  • Identify pertinent health and mental health concerns and issues.
  • Address health and mental health issues through collaborative health programming, services and policies.
  • Serve as a consultant and resource for health and mental health related information and services.

The mission of Counseling Services is to provide professional mental health counseling and consultation services for our campus community that:

  • Incorporates a brief-therapeutic model with an emphasis on developmental counseling directed at helping currently enrolled students succeed in the university environment.
  • Coordinates referrals to off-campus professionals when specialized, more intensive, and/or longer term services are needed.
  • Creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus.
  • Provides leadership and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives.

All staff members are expected to know and adhere to the ethical principles of their respective professions and the legal standards set forth by state statutes and counselors’ respective licensing bodies.
