Professional Activities:

Maeda sensei has been teaching 1st and 2nd year Japanese language courses with distance education/blended formats through Collaborative Language Program (CLP) well before the COVID-19 pandemic. Her recent interests include learner agency in online learning and Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA). Publications include “How to Establish a Strong Community in an Online Course” (FLTMAG), “Gain Time and Differentiate to Meet Student Needs in University Learning Environments: A flipped Learning Approach” in J. P. Loucky & J. L. Ware (Eds.) Flipped Instruction Methods and Digital Technologies in Language Learning Classrooms (IGI Global), and Advanced Japanese: Communication in Context (Routledge).

Maeda sensei is the recipient of the 2020 AATJ Teacher Award (Community College, College, and University Levels) and is a current president of the Wisconsin Association of Teachers of Japanese.
