The Financial Aid Timeline
A crucial key to successfully applying for, receiving and maintaining your financial aid package is to make sure that you meet all the key deadlines throughout the year! We've compiled a month-by-month guide of all the things you need to remember to do throughout the year. Some things happen more than once a year so it's critical that you pay close attention to dates!
January
You'll receive a notice from UWRF Student Billing that your spring semester statement is available to view through the eSIS student portal. Click the button for more information.
Early February
Spring semester financial aid is credited to your account - provided all Financial Aid items on your eSIS To Do List are completed.
If you're a new Falcon (either first year or transfer), you must have submitted an official high school transcript to the Admissions Office showing your graduation date for financial aid to disburse.
If you have excess financial aid after all your charges are paid, a refund will be processed shortly after disbursement. To receive your refund, you must set up direct deposit. Click the button to learn how.
March to May
If you're planning to take summer classes, fill out a summer financial aid application AFTER you have registered for summer courses. Learn more at our Apply for Aid page.
April 15
It's important that you and/or your family file your taxes properly for financial aid purposes. The tax filing deadline is typically April 15.
June
Satisfactory Academic Progress is evaluated for financial aid recipients after the end of spring semester. Keep an eye on your UWRF email for any communications regarding your academic progress as it relates to aid eligibility. By federal regulations, you must be making progress to continue to receive federal and state financial aid.
If you're a continuing student, you should expect to receive your Financial Aid Offer Letter sometime after the beginning of June. These letters are sent to students' UWRF emails so keep an eye out for them!
Summer
If you're borrowing a Federal Direct Loan for the first time next fall, you must complete the online Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN). Learn more at Receiving Your Aid (scroll down).
