We believe that solid foundational skills and early hands-on experience are keys to setting you on a successful path. We've designed our coursework so that you are immersed in valuable learning experiences from day one. Learn more below.

Engineering

All engineering students start by taking our Introduction to Engineering course (GENG 135), a course required in all accredited engineering programs. It gives students an introduction to the engineering profession including potential career paths, the engineering licensure process and an understanding of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context. You'll be introduced to some of the tools and programming languages and learn about project management and teamwork, professional and ethical responsibility and how to analyze problems using the engineering design process.

Engineering Technology

As a first year engineering technology student, you'll have a unique experience in your first year one-credit seminar course, Engineering Technology Professional Seminar I (ET 185). The course teams you up with students in their junior year and you'll learn from each other in a project-based team environment. You'll meet all the faculty, learn about our facilities and resources available to you, including scholarships, internships, Career Services and academic assistance programs. You'll learn about the engineering technology profession, engineering problem solving and professional communication tools used in the engineering field, such as Gantt Charts and design review meetings.
