Jump Start Activity

Program Pathways

  • Disability Resource Center: Designed for incoming students who are connected to the DRC.
  • My First Steps: Perfect for any incoming student interested in getting connected to campus resources.
  • TRIO Student Support Services: Made for incoming students who are eligible for the SSS program.

This is a FREE program that will serve as a "jump start" into your UWRF experience. Programming includes staff and peer mentors who will work closely with the pathway group to create an immersive experience. Participants will move in early into their fall semester housing assignment.

The application deadline is July 3. You'll receive a notification email by July 17.

Disability Resource Center (DRC): This program is designed specifically for students who identify as having a disability. The DRC Program helps first-year students get connected to the disability community at UWRF. This occurs by connecting first-year students with peer mentors, current students and Disability Resource Center staff. Participants will learn how to use academic accommodations at the college level, navigate the transition process and access college resources. Participants are also given the opportunity to engage with their fellow peers to learn more about disability identity, pride and disability culture at UWRF.

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS): The SSS Pathway is for students who are first-generation, income-eligible or have a documented disability. This pathway includes information on the free TRIO Student Support Services program which serves students throughout their entire college careers in academic success, career development and more. Participants will meet SSS Peer Mentors, learn about campus resources and start practicing strong academic habits.

My First Steps (MFS): The MFS Pathway is for any new student who is interested in getting oriented to campus early, building connections with peers and filling their resource toolbox for academic success. Students in this pathway do not have to be affiliated with a specific program. MFS staff contact.
