The mission of the Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies Program is to address traditional omissions of gender, sexuality, and women’s experiences from university curricula. The Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies Program at UWRF is an interdisciplinary program working campus-wide to create an understanding that interrelated factors—such as race, ethnicity, class, age, disability, religion, national origin, sexuality, sexual orientation—inform knowledge of all people’s history, culture, and social roles. Our program equips students with the critical tools for rigorous intellectual inquiry to question prevailing assumptions; fosters the development of ethical and engaged citizenship; promotes a sense of community among students, staff, faculty, and local citizens; and inspires students to work toward the goal of a just and equitable society for all people.

A minor in women's, gender and sexualities studies provides students with the following: a broad historical representation of scholarship on women; and a set of methodologies that acknowledges the intrinsic value of the experiences, contributions, and perspectives of both women and men.

The minor consists of a core unit and elective courses in many disciplines for a total of 21 minimum credit hours.
