Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Finance, 2022
Caleb graduated from UWRF in 2022 with a double major in mathematics and finance. He is currently working as an actuarial analyst at Medica. Caleb credits his time at UWRF as the foundation for his success in the actuarial field, highlighting the dedication of the professors who consistently went above and beyond to support students in both their coursework and exam preparation. During his undergraduate years, Caleb founded the Actuarial Club, gaining valuable leadership experience and strengthening his resume. He shares that if you’re looking to grow both personally and professionally, UWRF’s Mathematics Department offers the support, mentorship and opportunities to help you reach your goals.

Ella, a 2024 graduate of the UWRF mathematics program, is currently working as an actuarial analyst at Mercer. She credits her time as a math major at UWRF with providing a strong foundation for her actuarial career and in preparing her for actuarial exams. Ella also highlights her experience leading the Actuarial Club as a meaningful part of her college journey—offering her valuable leadership opportunities and a chance to help organize engaging events like the Integration Bee. She is especially grateful to her adviser and professors, who took the time to understand her career goals and tailored her academic experience to equip her with the skills needed for success after graduation.
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Secondary Education, 2019
Zac graduated from the undergraduate mathematics secondary education program in 2019. He currently teaches at Le Sueur-Henderson Middle and High School and is in his 7th year of teaching. Zac believes that the mathematics secondary education program at UWRF helped him feel well prepared for the classroom—especially through opportunities to teach lessons and receive feedback from both peers and professors. He also appreciated the supportive faculty who were always willing to help and guide him in his journey toward becoming an effective teacher.

Sammy recently completed her first year of teaching at Prescott High School, having graduated in 2024. She acknowledges that the lesson preparation and task development experiences during her time at UWRF played a significant role in shaping her into the teacher she is today. While in the mathematics secondary education program, Sammy appreciated the opportunity to make mistakes and try new approaches based on self-reflection and the feedback she received throughout the program.

Emily is a graduate of both the undergraduate mathematics secondary education program (2020) and the graduate Master of Science in Education in mathematics program (2025) at UWRF. She currently teaches at Somerset High School and is in her 6th year of teaching. Emily appreciates the strong sense of community fostered within the mathematics graduate program at UWRF. Through the program, she has built connections with teachers across Wisconsin and Minnesota, recognizing how these relationships continue to support her in her teaching.

Shawn currently teaches at Highview Middle School and graduated from both programs at UWRF: the undergraduate mathematics secondary education program (2016) and the graduate Master of Science in Education in mathematics (2020). Shawn appreciates the cutting-edge preparation the graduate program offers its students, including research-based practices and relevant technology that have allowed him to lead within the district he serves.
