Coach Farley Fund

Coach Mike Farley

The Mike Farley Legacy Coaching Fund, established in 2018, has become the cornerstone of Falcon Football’s donation projects. This fund honors legendary Coach Mike Farley, who led the Falcons from 1970 to 1988, winning eight conference championships, earning multiple Coach of the Year awards and securing historic playoff berths. Coach Farley’s “team first” philosophy was central to his approach, positively impacting the lives of many young men. This tribute supports the current Falcons by providing funds to add an assistant coach in Coach Farley’s name, ensuring his legacy lives on and continues to shape the program.

Replenishing the Farley Coaching Fund

Thanks to the generous donations from our dedicated Falcon alumni and friends, we have been able to support the coaching position for the past seven years. It is now time to replenish the fund significantly. Building on the success of the initial phase, Coach Walker and UWRF Football aim to elevate this position to a more permanent role with an increased salary and benefits. This is an exciting opportunity that will require a concerted effort from all Falcon Football supporters.

Off to a Great Start

Thanks to the generous lead gift of $25,000 from 1988 graduate, former Falcon tight end and current UW-River Falls Foundation Board Member Tim Schneider, we are off to a great start.

“Coach Farley was a major influence in my experience at UW-River Falls, my career and my life. It’s an honor to support the fund that has helped pave the way to Falcon Football’s resurgence as one of the WIAC’s and nation’s top programs.”

We also thank UWRF Hall of Famer Daryl Herrick for his remarkable leadership as chair of the first phase of the Mike Farley Legacy Coaching Fund campaign. Daryl’s enthusiastic commitment helped build the fund’s foundation of success.

“This is the kind of fundraising that Coach Farley would have supported because it puts the team first. I’ve been proud to be a part of this campaign." - Daryl Herrick, '75
