Open Skate and Open Hockey 

Campus Recreation offers numerous open skating and open hockey opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the community. Lace up the skates (we have rentals if you need them!) and join us for some fun on the ice!  
  


Open Skate

Admission

  • UWRF Students: FREE
  • UWRF Faculty/Staff: $5
  • Community: $5

All Users

  • Skate Rental: $5
  • Skate Sharpening: $5
  • Helmet Rental: $5

Open Hockey or Stick & Puck

Admission

  • All users: $10
  • First two goalies are free
  • Everyone must check in and pay fee before entering the locker room.

  • Obey the supervisor on duty.
  • Do not enter the ice until the ice resurfacer gate is closed.
  • Skate in the designated direction.
  • No hockey sticks, pucks or balls.
  • No sliding, "cracking the whip," tag or speed skating.
  • Push bars are to be used ONLY by skaters learning to skate.
  • No chairs or strollers allowed on the ice.
  • Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances will be removed from the facility.
  • Do not wear skates on concrete or tile floors.
  • Failure to follow rules may result in removal from facility.
  • Refunds will not be given to those removed from the facility.
  • No food, drinks, gum, candy or tobacco products allowed on the ice.
  • No sitting in players benches, on the boards or in the penalty boxes.

Hockey Rules

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Protective gear must be worn.
  • Players must provide all of their own equipment.  
  • Helmets may be rented at the Skate Room.
  • Helmets, elbow pads and shin guards required.
  • No slap shots, checking, fighting or organized drills.
  • No food, drinks, gum, candy or tobacco products allowed on the ice.
  • Limited to the first 30 participants.
  • First two goalies to arrive play for FREE.
  • Failure to follow rules may result in removal from facility.
  • Refunds will not be given to those removed from the facility.

 

Stick & Puck Rules

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Helmets must be worn.  
  • Helmets may be rented at the Skate Room.
  • No food, drinks, gum, candy or tobacco products allowed on the ice.
  • Limited to the first 30 participants.
  • Failure to follow rules may result in removal from facility.
  • Refunds will not be given to those removed from the facility.
  • Skaters acknowledge that skating is a potentially hazardous activity. Skaters participate at their own risk. Campus Recreation is not responsible for any injuries that may occur while skating. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost of stolen items.
     
  • Campus Recreation reserves the right to remove any participant from open hockey for any reason. Participation in open hockey carries an inherent risk that can include, but is not limited to, death or major injury. Campus Recreation is not responsible for injuries.
