Commencement Information for Students
Hey Falcons, there is some really important information related to Commencement that you need to make note of! Review this page to make sure you don't miss a thing on your Commencement checklist and to find details on regalia, attire, diplomas and more.
Your Commencement Checklist
- Apply to graduate.
- Pay any outstanding financial obligations. You won't officially graduate until all financial obligations have been reconciled.
- Purchase academic regalia (cap, gown, tassel, hoods, etc.) from the Falcon Shop.
- Update your contact info in eSIS to ensure that your diploma and transcripts arrive.
- Consider applying to be a student speaker at Commencement.
- Visit Career Services for help finding professional positions, resume writing and other career-related assistance.
- Take a moment to enjoy your accomplishments! We're proud of each and every one of you!
Day Of Information
The recommended dress code for graduates is business attire.
Students are expected to arrive 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. You'll need time to find your college, line up and fill out the First Destination Survey.
Commencement is held in Page Arena inside the Falcon Center.
- Fall graduates will receive a diploma by late February.
- J-Term graduates will receive a diploma by mid-March.
- Spring graduates will receive a diploma by mid-July.
- Summer graduates will receive a diploma by mid-October.
Become A Student Speaker!
The Commencement Student Speaker Committee invites all undergraduate and graduate students eligible for graduation to apply to deliver the student address at the next Commencement ceremony. Learn more and apply at our Student Speaker page.
Regalia, Announcements, Frames and Rings
- Caps, gowns, tassels, stoles, master's gowns, master's hoods and diploma frames are available for purchase in the Falcon Shop. Contact the Falcon Shop with questions at 715-425-3962 or falconshop@uwrf.edu.
- Additional graduation items can be ordered directly from Herff Jones, the official vendor for the Falcon Shop and UWRF campus.
- You may receive emails from Signature or other companies selling regalia or other graduation supplies. These companies don't have a formal relationship with UWRF.

- College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences: Maize
- College of Arts and Sciences: White
- School of Business and Economics: Bronze
- School of Education: Blue
- School of Allied Health and Social Work - Social Work: Citron
- School of Allied Health and Social Work - Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health and Human Performance: Blue
- Graduate College: Black

Graduate Students
- Graduate students receiving a master's degree must also order a hood through the Falcon Shop.
- Please check with the Falcon Shop regarding the color of the hood for your degree.
