| Details: This course investigates the relationship between language and culture in four modules: (a) cross-cultural communications, (b) language differences, (c) global Englishes, and (d) situated pedagogy. The class aims to prepare students for effective cross-cultural interactions inevitably required by language teaching, as well as to develop understanding of how cultures influence languages. The class will endeavor to especially develop student pragmatic and sociolinguistic knowledge and offer students opportunities to adapt lesson plans for improved cross-cultural communications.
