| Details: This course will explore the current research, theories, and best practices which might help practicing teachers, counselors, and administrators understand and improve our American educational system. Practicing professionals will be asked to examine their own notions of the sociology of schooling with a critical perspective. Topics such as social class, ethnic minorities, gender equity, national curriculum standards, urban education, character education, and financial reform will be introduced and examined. Current reform initiatives will also be discussed. |
