| Details: This course provides students with opportunities to design lessons as well as practice and reflect on strategies and methods for teaching social studies curricula at the upper elementary and middle school level. Students will also examine issues of interdisciplinary curriculum design and the philosophical/ historical basis of social studies as a discipline. Students will explore the fundamental aspects of effective differentiation for diverse learners in the social studies classroom. Finally, they will have an opportunity to experiment with materials and resources including the use of technology used in teaching social studies. Field experience required (25 hours). Prerequisite: This course is a portion of the middle school block. Concurrent admission of TED 444 and admission into teacher education and/or completion of TED 250. (Sp) | |||
