Details: This course teaches about the developmental characteristics of middle level learners (aged 10-14 years old) in relation to current theory and research. Emphasis is placed on the development of curriculum and pedagogy in the middle level grades to address the transitional nature of this age range in all categories of development. Practical strategies in peer mediation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and effective communication will be integrated into curriculum structures to help teacher candidates develop skills to create a positive learning environment for middle level learners. Prerequisites: TED 250, TED 252 (or ENGL 252), and SPED 330 (F, Sp).
