| Details: This course examines the importance of health and illness in people's lives, exploring how social structures, cultural systems, and organizational patterns shape who gets sick, how they are treated, and how health care is delivered. Students will analyze health and illness not simply as biological processes, but as phenomena profoundly influenced by social and cultural contexts. Topics may include social determinants of health, cross-cultural perspectives on healing and medicine, health inequalities, and comparative health care systems.
Prerequisites: SOCI 100 or Consent of Instructor.
