Montessori 500 Montessori Philosophy and Pedagogy
Details: This course provides students with opportunities to 1) explore Maria Montessori's life, the beginning of the Montessori Method as developed by Maria Montessori in the early 1900's, its growth over the years, and the specifics of the Montessori Philosophy (i.e., Planes of Development, Spiritual Embryo, Absorbent Mind, Sensitive Periods, Cosmic Education, Normalization, autonomy, freedom with limits, etc.) and 2) engage in self reflective practices. Participants will also explore how the Montessori principles, materials, teacher and environment relate to and respect the developing child from birth through twelve years.
