| Details: Introduction to Ceramics will introduce students to beginning skills within the field of ceramics. Hand building (coil, pinch, slab, modeling) and wheel throwing techniques will be taught, learned and explored. Earthenware or Stoneware clay and glazes will be used. Students will explore sculptural, functional, vessel-making and conceptual traditions as means of expression for ceramic projects. Through discussions, readings, image presentations, films and demonstrations students will develop and expand their knowledge and understanding of historical and cultural perspectives in ceramics.
