Details: This course provides an introduction to the historical and contemporary practice of graphic design through knowledge building, research and curative exploration, presentation, critiques, and design creation. Students will discover the ways specific messages can be effectively communicated, received, perceived, and cause action. Development of problem-solving strategies will enable students to combine, manipulate, and conceptually explore the elements and principles of design within a graphic design context. Focus will be placed on simplification of image, intention, and message. Basic drawing and composition experience is required (ART 121 or ART 131 are encouraged if needed). Course fee required.
