Details: This course discusses the theories of reading development, general milestones, and the relationship of cognition and reading. Different types of reading impairments will be examined as well as factors related to the multi-lingual language learners. Standardized, criterion-referenced, and dynamic assessment procedures will be studied using case examples. Intervention procedures will be examined with special attention to multi-sensory approaches. The role of the speech-language pathologist on an individualized education team will be discussed including methods of consultation and collaboration.
