Details: This course will provide knowledge and understanding of organic plant production systems compared to sustainable and conventional systems. Knowledge about the certification process will be provided. The course will examine multiple management practices that meet National Organic Program standards. These practices will be examined based on their impacts on soil, water, crops, farm economics, and the surrounding ecosystem. Methods for maintaining organic integrity from farm to consumer will be presented. Various marketing methods will be examined. Prerequisites: CROP 368 or consent of instructor. (Sp) |
