Sociology 395 Social Understandings of Central America and South America
Details: This course requires both the on-campus study of a Central or South American country through sociological and anthropological lenses and a study abroad experience of this country during the term. The course focuses on the development of the modern country, the structure and function of major social institutions, differences among social groups, and the analysis of key social issues and problems. These topics will be further explored during the study abroad component, through an array of active learning experiences, some of which will be physically vigorous.
