Details: This course is a lecture and field study of the characteristics that make hydric soils and wetlands unique and valuable environments. The interaction between soil, vegetation and hydrology resulting in specific wetland types will be investigated. The role of wetlands and the legal issues surrounding wetland protection in the United States will be discussed. Students will learn and practice methods of identifying hydric soils, wetland vegetation and wetland hydrology and develop skills in wetland delineation. Prerequisites: SOIL 120 (F) |
