Details: This class introduces students to the influence of sports on society through unique communication pathways that are integral to connecting with sporting audiences. We will examine how cultural meaning, values, and patterns of behavior that emerge between sport teams, leagues, and fan communities offer distinct social, political, and economic channels of interaction. This course will challenge students to examine these subjects at local, national, and global contexts to discover the manner in which sports function as an arena for public discourse.
