| Details: This course is a hands-on introduction to the core work of a data scientist, from gathering data, to cleaning it, visualizing it, interpreting it, and seeing what new questions arise in the process?often referred to as the ?data science life cycle?. Data will be drawn from areas of interest to the students, and will be further used to illustrate tools that are fundamental to understanding data and used to make predictions, such as simulation, linear regression, and cross-validation.
Prerequisites: CIDS 161, CIDS 215, and one of MATH 226 or ECON 226, either of which may be taken concurrently. Alternatively, students missing any of these courses can still enroll with permission of the instructor. (F, Sp) |
